The Infectious Disease and Environmental & Occupational Health Cluster conducted an orientation on the preparedness for the Emerging and Re-emerging Infectious Diseases on October 23-24, 2014 at the Iloilo Midtown Hotel. It was participated by 6 private hospitals in Iloilo City, 1 from the provinces of Aklan and Capiz, 2 from Negros Occidental, 4 retained hospitals, Provincial Health Offices, DMOs and from district hospitals.
This will provide Global, National and Regional updates on Emerging and Re-emerging Infectious Diseases. This will also orient LGUs and private hospitals of their roles and responsibilities in responses to the emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases as well as to come up with a preparedness and response plan.
The components of the preparedness plan were discussed such as:
- Functions
- Responsibilities
- Support needed
- Command System
- Surveillance
- Health System Readiness
- Public Health Interverntion and
- Risk Communictions
The participants were oriented on the proper donning and doffing of PPEs and demonstration was made after the training.
