The Republic of the Philippines (Western Visayas Region), through its Department of Health WV CHD has institutionalized strong partnership and network- building.


The network is called Western Visayas Health Emergency Network (WHEN) composed of multisectoral regional agencies and local government units with sharing of best practices and showcase of assets, human resources and response capabilities as part of emergency preparedness and disaster risk reduction.


One of the salient components is Drowning Prevention. In relation to this momentous year with the very first World Drowning Prevention Day,  we showcase in this website  the following initiatives and best practices of our local government units and that of the Department of Health:


            Province of Guimaras, Philippines - Drowning Prevention 

               assets and Water Search and Rescue (WASAR) simulation 

               exercise showcase


           Province of Antique, Philippines - Drowning Prevention assets 

                and Swiftwater Search and Rescue showcase


          Department of Health WV CHD, Philippines – Regional Rescue    

                Olympics which includes Water Search and Rescue 

                (WASAR) category; this is featured in the WHO Drowning 

                Prevention Status Report


          Province of Capiz, Philippines - Drowning Prevention assets 

                with Lifeguard Training and WASAR Training showcase
