HUNDREDS of people in Calinog, Iloilo availed of health services during the Kalusugang PamPamilya Roadshow held recently at the Covered Gym of the municipality.
Personnel from the Department of Health Regional Office VI (DOH-RO VI) in coordination with the Iloilo Provincial Health Office and the Rural Health Office of Calinog converged for the conduct of health services to more than 200 people that included influenza and pneumococcal immunization for senior citizens and implanon for consenting mothers.
Joining the conduct of health fora were personnel from the Population Commission (PopCom) and the Philippine Health Insurance Corp (PhilHealth). Lectures were given to pregnant mothers on nutrition, breastfeeding, oral health, family planning and PhilHealth benefits. Separate discussions on health and nutrition were also given to the youth, men and elderly.
Health Secretary Janette Loreto-Garin graced the activity and stressed the importance of newborn and maternal health care. The DOH, she said, is pushing for 100% birth delivery at birthing facilities.
Sec. Garin also led the inauguration of the Birthing Center located near the Calinog Municipal Hall as one of the highlights of the event.
Also present during the Roadshow were DOH VI Regional Director Marlyn W. Convocar, Provincial Administrator Raul Banias, Calinog Mayor Alex Centena, Bingawan, Iloilo Mayor Matt Palabrica, Iloilo Provincial Health Officer Patricia Grace Trabado and Municipal Health Officers from Iloilo province.
